At the other end of the marooned on a deserted island movie spectrum from “Lord of the Flies” is “The Blue Lagoon” about a pair of kissing cousins in a paradise-like setting forced to fend for themselves after abandoning ship as children. The dreamy 1980 film, with its stunning beachfront and underwater scenery, elaborate treehouse-style living quarters, and gorgeous golden-limbed and barely-clothed stars, managed to make the castaway lifestyle look downright appealing. For our Gather homage, we took the bounty from the sea, and gave it a tropical twist befitting of the film’s idyllic setting. The result: coconut marinated head-on shrimp with a hint of spice because, as anyone who has seen the movie knows, things between the cousins definitely, ahem, heat up. Here, a peek at the original trailer.
