Gather Journal Satin and TatAs Bowie did with Hunky Dory, Nick Detrich, partner at New Orleans’s Cane & Table, wanted to design a cocktail that would touch on many things that people enjoy. His revelatory combination references both a French 75 and an Old Cuban, and the addition of jalapeño? The capsaicin stimulates the taste buds so they become more perceptive before your meal.

Combine the rum, lime juice, and honey syrup in a shaker with ice. Pour the Champagne into a chilled coupe glass then shake the cocktail and strain into the coupe over the champagne. Garnish with the picked lemon and jalapeño slices.
*Honey Syrup: Heat ½ cup of water to almost boiling, add 1 cup of honey and stir to blend. Cool and then store. It can be refrigerated for up to 2 months.
