Il Legame Che Lega Cocktail

Cocktails & Beverages from Issue 12 - Winter 2018 – The Senses

The antithesis both in appearance and flavor to the saccharine Cosmopolitans emblematic of the late ‘90s, the recent resurgence of that most classic bitter cocktail of them all, the Negroni, indicates a seismic (and welcome) shift in taste. This bitter medley (whose name means, the ties that bind) crafted by Brady Sprouse and Damon Dhanens of Seattle’s Barnacle Bar hinges on the essence of a Negroni, recasting it with a malty genever base and an amaro infused with smoked rhubarb.

serves

  • 1 ¼ oz genever
  • ¾ oz Carpano Bianco vermouth
  • ½ oz Cappelletti Amaro Rabarbaro Sfumato
  • 1 barspoon of Nastro D’Oro Amaro Monte San Castanzo

  • Combine all ingredients in an Old Fashioned-style glass. Add ice and stir. Garnish with a lemon peel expressed over the cocktail.
