“She sings like my horn,” Miles Davis said of Chaka Khan, the queen of funk. Chaka first earned acclaim in the early ’70s as the powerhouse vocalist of hugely popular funk act Rufus (Stevie Wonder wrote their first hit, “Tell Me Something Good”), before going solo in 1978 with the anthem “I’m Every Woman.” Her creative output has been impressive (22 albums, 10 Grammys) and this fall 2016 she will release yet another album.
