Laura Cantrell’s There’s a Little Bit of Country in NYC

Listen to any of the tunes from this Nashville-born, New York-based singer sowngwriter’s growing oeuvre and one thing is clear: she is a born storyteller. That said stories happen to be told by way of a remarkable voice, both powerful and beguiling, only adds to Cantrell’s appeal. Her latest effort, the lovely and emotional, No Way There from Here, is utterly engrossing, beginning to end, and, for New Yorkers, you can see her perform tunes from it (and more) this Friday, June 12th when she takes the stage at the The Bowery Electric. Cantrell, a longtime city resident, still holds her country roots dear, as evidenced on this playlist she curated especially for Gather.
