With the landmark (and long-anticipated) decision by the Supreme Court this morning to strike down DOMA, there is plenty to make us feel like singing and kicking up our heels in celebration. Fitting then that today’s Film Focus movie happens to feature plenty of both! One of the most beloved and critically acclaimed musicals ever, West Side Story, highlights a clash between rival gangs the Jets and the Sharks, and the love that emerges amidst it between Tony and Maria. When the gorgeous pair first set eyes on each other at a school dance, everything around them seems to go fuzzy… the same feeling you might have if you drink one too many of the Bloody Marias it inspired us to create for our current “Rough Cut” issue.
