Cocktails & Beverages from Issue 10 – Winter 2017 – Sin

This wild and whimsical concoction (cotton candy! disco dust!) dreamt up by Sam Anderson, beverage director and manager of New York’s Mission Chinese, captures the feeling of a most modern breed of envy: FOMO, Fear of Missing Out.

  • 4 generous dashes lemon bitters
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • 1 wheel of lemon
  • rose flavored cotton candy (available at
  • green mukhwas (available at
  • edible silver disco dust (available at
  • sparkling white wine (we like a Pét-Nat)

    Shake lemon bitters into a tulip shaped glass and add lemon juice. Place lemon wheel at base of glass, creating a thin barrier between the bitters and juice.

    Open strands of cotton candy and weave the mukhwas through. Then fill the glass with the cotton candy and pull it up so that it’s peeking out the top. Shake a very thin layer of silver dust on top.

    Pour sparkling white wine over. The cotton candy will foam up and disintegrate, creating a classic champagne cocktail studded with mukhwas and disco dust.
